National Officers Visit Virac, Catanduanes - May 22 - May 23, 2013

National President Lilia M. Pineda and Vice President for Luzon Mely Diaz, ventured across the Philippine Sea on the Roro from the Port of Tabaco Albay to the Port of San Andres, Catanduanes during their visit to Bicol in May.  The trip covered four of the Bicol provinces - Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay and Catanduanes.  It included driving around the vicinity of Mayon Volcano.  There was great anticipation to see the famed perfect cone;  unfortunately the cloud cover was heavy during the entire visit.  The Roro was quite an adventure, taking almost 3 hours to traverse 26 nautical miles, but the blue seas were calm and the beauty of the island of Catanduanes was enough to make the visitors forget their seasickness.  A half hour drive from the Port of San Andres to Virac passed through scenic mountains and heavy green forests. Lilia and Mely agreed they were blessed to be visiting such a beautiful island.

The meeting with the Virac Chapter took place in Sea Breeze, the restaurant owned by our Chapter President Trinidad Laynes. Chapter membership stands at 37, and most of them were able to attend.  Special guest for the evening was  the Bishop of Catanduanes, the Most Rev Manolo de los Santos, who has been the Shepherd of the Diocese since 1994.  The Diocese has 5 Vicariates, 19 Parishes and 4 Mission Churches.

In her Welcome Remarks, Trinidad apologized for being an over-staying President, a statement that drew much laughter from the  group.  All present, however, agreed that she continues to do a great job.  Their activities and their output are faithfully recorded and the Bishop was there to witness to MBMG's invaluable contribution to the Diocese.  It was a happy gathering with members joining in a serenade and ending with all singing the MBMG hymn.

On the 23rd of May, the Diocese came together for the ordination of 7 priests.  It was a memorable visit indeed.

National Officers visit Daet - May 21 - 22

National President Lilia M. Pineda accompanied by Vice President for Luzon Mely Diaz visited the Daet Chapter, host of this year's Luzon Regional Conference.

Daet is a small Chapter with only 37 members, but all have pledged to give their best to make the November Conference a success.  The visit included an ocular inspection of the venue, Pineapple Resort, as well as the hotels and inns that have been shortlisted for the delegates.

National Officers visit the Archdiocese of Caceres - May 21, 2013

National President Lilia M. Pineda accompanied by Vice President for Luzon, Mely Diaz, flew to Naga City on May 21, to start a visit of the Bicol Chapters. The meeting was presided over by Judge Freddie Balonzo, still the hard working Chapter President after all these years.  A report on the Chapter's activities was resented by Ampy Nieves.  The highlight in the past year was the installation of the new Archbishop, the Most Rev. Rolando T. Tirona, during which MBMG played a key role by providing the vestments and miters for the Bishops in attendance.

For the Archdiocese of Caceres, the focal point of the year's calendar is the Feast of Our Lady of Penafrancia in September.  MBMG is always called upon to provide vestments and altar linen for this important feast, and our Naga Chapter has always faithfully accomplished this task.

National President Lilia asked about the recruitment of new members.  Membership in the Chapter remains steady at 40, but the Chapter has to address the important task of inviting new and younger members.

National Officers Visit the Military Ordinariate in Lipa - August 4, 2013

National Adviser Patsy Henson and Vice President for Luzon Mely Diaz visited the Military Ordinariate in Camp Fernando, Lipa City on August 4, 2013.  The 30 year old Chapter established under National President Rorie Buenaseda is thriving.  Current membership stands at 60 members, and though some are no longer able to actively participate in activities due to advancing age, they still wholeheartedly give of their resources.

The new Chapter President is Emilie Acio.  This year they set up their own fundraising project: "My Lola is a Mother Butler".  This innovative project will culminate in the Crowning Gala on September 28, 5pm - 9pm, when all the Mother Butlers will be dressed in their finest mestiza dresses.

National Adviser Patsy reminded the members of the other important aspect of our apostolate - that of praying for vocations and support of seminarians.  Emilie reported that her Chapter gives regular support to the Seminary of the Military Ordinariate of the Philippines.

Emilie was pleased to report that 28 members of her Chapter will be attending the Daet Conference and will be presenting a dance number during Fellowship Night.
