National Officers visit the Archdiocese of Caceres - May 21, 2013

National President Lilia M. Pineda accompanied by Vice President for Luzon, Mely Diaz, flew to Naga City on May 21, to start a visit of the Bicol Chapters. The meeting was presided over by Judge Freddie Balonzo, still the hard working Chapter President after all these years.  A report on the Chapter's activities was resented by Ampy Nieves.  The highlight in the past year was the installation of the new Archbishop, the Most Rev. Rolando T. Tirona, during which MBMG played a key role by providing the vestments and miters for the Bishops in attendance.

For the Archdiocese of Caceres, the focal point of the year's calendar is the Feast of Our Lady of Penafrancia in September.  MBMG is always called upon to provide vestments and altar linen for this important feast, and our Naga Chapter has always faithfully accomplished this task.

National President Lilia asked about the recruitment of new members.  Membership in the Chapter remains steady at 40, but the Chapter has to address the important task of inviting new and younger members.

National Officers Visit the Military Ordinariate in Lipa - August 4, 2013

National Adviser Patsy Henson and Vice President for Luzon Mely Diaz visited the Military Ordinariate in Camp Fernando, Lipa City on August 4, 2013.  The 30 year old Chapter established under National President Rorie Buenaseda is thriving.  Current membership stands at 60 members, and though some are no longer able to actively participate in activities due to advancing age, they still wholeheartedly give of their resources.

The new Chapter President is Emilie Acio.  This year they set up their own fundraising project: "My Lola is a Mother Butler".  This innovative project will culminate in the Crowning Gala on September 28, 5pm - 9pm, when all the Mother Butlers will be dressed in their finest mestiza dresses.

National Adviser Patsy reminded the members of the other important aspect of our apostolate - that of praying for vocations and support of seminarians.  Emilie reported that her Chapter gives regular support to the Seminary of the Military Ordinariate of the Philippines.

Emilie was pleased to report that 28 members of her Chapter will be attending the Daet Conference and will be presenting a dance number during Fellowship Night.

National Officers Visit Sangley Point, August 4, 2013

National Adviser Patsy Henson and Vice President for Luzon Mely Diaz visited Our Lady of Naval Parish in Sangley Point Naval Base, Cavite on August 4, 2013. Our MBMG chapter is the regular sponsor of the First Sunday Mass, and on this occasion, eight new members were inducted.

Chapter President Edith Loria met the National officers before the 7 am Mass and showed them the improvements that have been made in the Chapel since the last visit of the officers two years ago.  There is a beautiful life size statue of Our Lady of Naval to the right of the main chapel that is the focus of much devotion. The main chapel itself has been completely renovated.  Our members clean the chapel every Saturday and are responsible for maintaining the vestments and altar linen.

It was a joyous visit!  Parish Priest Fr Simon Arana, a native of Iloilo, is an energetic shepherd, especially of the youth.  During the Mass, new members of the Hijas de Maria were also inducted, very young girls already pledging to live lives with our Blessed Mother as their guide.  Patsy and Mely spoke to some of the young girls, and urged them to join MBMG when they are a bit older.

In remarks before the final blessing, Fr. Simon expressed his gratitude for the support that MBMG has given to priests all over the Philippines and especially Our Lady of Naval Parish.  The National officers were pleased that this relatively new chapter is making a difference in the Parish and community that they serve.
